I can see that the computer is running hard drive blinks ocasionallybut no windows 7 login screen not showing users free download from the keyboard. However, if I put the computer to sleep I have it configured to sleep when I close the lidand then wake it up, I get the logon screen, I am able to logon, and everything works fine.

First of all, thanks. I think that this is not related to hibernation. The issue is that the computer is in some sort of strange graphic mode coming out of startup or hibernation.
Another solution the one I am using now is to wait for a while, put it to sleep, wake it up and it works. But it is very bad :- So none of the solutions is good. To answer your question, yes remote desktop works when the screen is blank. Saturday, June 20, PM. Luis, there have been issues reported with returning from hibernation. The exact cause is not yet identified, but it could have to do with some driver or hardware that's not properly reinitializing after restore from hibernation.
If you're just looking for a 'workaround', I'd suggest disabling hibernation -- powercfg -h off -- which should eliminate any issues "returning from hibernation". If you'd like to contribute to a possible solution, document your hardware configuration in the notebook particularly those things that are driver-based, like videoand maybe, over time, some common 'feature s ' of these scenarios can be identified. Another test you might try, if you have a second machine available -- see if you can establish a Remote Desktop connection to the Win7 notebook after resuming from hibernation.
