When I plugged my windows phone the OS is 7. However, none of these 3 show up on my laptop computer. I'm just trying to figure out why Portable Devices doesn't show up on my laptop under device managers. If nothing connected to the USB port s on your laptop works, it's time to consider that your laptop may be broken.
The facts that the phone makes a sound and indicates that its battery is charging mean that the USB power has power With one of the phones connected, open Devices and Printers. Is the phone listed there, perhaps under "Unspecified"? In Device Manager, are there any warning icons anywhere, especially in the "Universal Serial Bus Controller" section or a section for Other or Unknown devices? For help on getting into the BIOS configuration utility, provide the make and model of your laptop.
Thank you for your reply. I have an external hard drive, a flash drive, a USB controller, and they all work and show up where they're supposed to. Just my devices don't show up anywhere. Whenever I see that icon you referred to in your picture, it's the device I plugged in. Actually in device manager, everything is fine except under Other Devices. Nothing else has the yellow exclamation point. And Portable Devices doesn't show up.
