Have just bought a new laptop with windows 8 and cannot open any old saved vista folders - keep being told that I need to buy Microsoft or to enter a 25 character product code which I do not have as Curry's transferred all my saved files and programmes for me from my old pc.
I was under the impression that the new laptop came with Microsoft If not where do I get the product code from? I do not have a service disk, but do have a USB recovery stick. Would it be on this??? Can anyone advise.

Depending on the type of Office license you bought you may or may not be able to transfer it to a new computer. If you bought a "Product Key Card" or '1-computer' license then you can't transfer it.
